Shannon Youth Program

 

The Shannon Grant Program is designed to provide services to At Risk youth that are gang/violence affiliated "out of school" youth, DYS and DSS youth aged 16-21 for a period of 12 months or greater. The only way a youth can be enrolled in the program for a period greater than 12 months is if they have increased grade levels but have not taken or passed the GED exam.

The youth will be required to complete a life skills/leadership trainings while enrolled in the program. The youth will have the opportunity to participate in a 2-4 week non-paid Internship that will provide career, soft skills, and professional development training. Once the youth has successfully completed the GED/Vocational training college enrollment or employment assistance will be provided by the program counselor and the professional development specialist.

Services Offered: GED/Diploma preparation, Vocational training, Work readiness certification, Personal development (life skills/leadership workshops), and Internship/job placement, incentives offered.
